Audio processing: control and computation

Two different jobs

In an audio processor, configuring a system and processing its samples are different tasks. The supplied SAP7100X functional description separates Cortex-M0 control from dedicated audio processing blocks.

Follow the signal, then the control

Matrix, FIR, Delay, Gain and Router blocks provide audio functions. Firmware configures their coefficients and routing. External conversion and amplification still belong to the surrounding system.

Avoid confusing resources with connections

A FIR mode described as 128 channels does not mean 128 physical TDM inputs. Always read channel count together with the block, tap count and interface definition it belongs to.

Keep AI in the right place

AI assistance in a development tool does not establish an on-chip neural inference engine. The supplied datasheet does not establish a dedicated NPU; the website therefore describes the documented audio hardware functions.
